Gnawledge

Questions

What does Gnawledge do?

It finds a topic from a description. Type what you remember, such as "flags with green and black", and it shows the closest topics in its packs, each with a picture where there is one, a summary and key facts. You can also browse every pack without searching.

What is in it?

Five packs: Flags (305 topics), US States (578), US History (3,339), Writers (10,069) and Professional Wrestling (3,460). It covers those subjects and nothing else, so it will not find a film, a song or a recipe.

Does it need the internet?

No. The topics, pictures and search all work offline. The only thing that needs a connection is opening the full Wikipedia article for a topic.

Is it an AI chatbot?

No. A small model on the phone is used to match your description to topics by meaning, and that is all it does. The app never writes text. What you read comes from Wikipedia and Wikidata.

What does it know about me?

Nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising, and your searches are not sent anywhere or stored. The privacy page has the full list of what the app keeps on your phone.

Where does the content come from?

Summaries are the opening of Wikipedia articles, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Facts come from Wikidata. Pictures come from Wikimedia Commons, each with its own credit and license shown on the topic. Gnawledge is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Wikimedia Foundation.

Why does it search best in English?

The packs are in English, so descriptions in English match them best.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later.
